Mario Tennis Aces Free Beta For Nintendo Switch Starts June 1st

Ahead of the June 22nd release for Mario Tennis Aces on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo will be hosting a free online and offline multiplayer tournament beta between June 1st and June 3rd. The beta client will actually be available starting May 24th on the Nintendo eShop for all Nintendo Switch owners.

Once you download the beta you’ll be able to jump into the actual game starting on the first of June, and for three days you’ll be able to play with four of the characters from the game, including Mario, Peach, Yoshi and Bowser. Along the way, as you rack up points and wins, you’ll be able to unlock five additional characters to round out the beta’s roster.

In addition to this, offline play will be enabled as well, so if you have a phobia of playing online or you just hate having to share your game time with rugrats in the online space, you can play offline against the AI.

For those of you who do play offline, you’ll be able to unlock a classic Mario outfit that will carry over into the full version of Mario Tennis Aces when it launches near the end of June.

Accompanying the news is a brand new trailer showcasing some of the mini-games and different levels from the Adventure Mode, which will be included in the full version as a full-on single-player campaign.

As showcased in the video, Mario will have go out in search of Luigi, who has been captured by evil forces. Obviously, Nintendo seems to be heeding some of the complaints from Social Justice Warriors about the damsel in distress trope, which is why they decided to have Mario’s emasculated brother get captured instead of Peach.

Nevertheless, Mario goes through the tennis world to complete various challenges, unlock new tennis abilities, and defeat bosses along the way.

The Adventure Mode still uses the game’s built-in tennis mechanics, but it does so in completely unique and original ways, offering players a wide variety of mini-games to complete along the way.

As mentioned, you can hop into the beta starting June 1st through June 3rd. The full version of Mario Tennis Aces will be available starting June 22nd.
