NBA Playgrounds 2 Launches May 22nd For PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Saber Interactive has unveiled the official release date for NBA Playgrounds 2, the upcoming arcade-sports game for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC. You’ll be able to get your hands on the game for $19.99 starting May 22nd.

An all new gameplay trailer was also released to accompany the news that NBA Playgrounds 2 was scheduled to release near the end of the month for the two-on-two, isometric basketball game for home consoles and PC.

You can check out the new trailer below.

The gameplay trailer showcases some of the overhauled and all new models that they have featured in NBA Playgrounds 2, which are designed with the typical NBA Jam-inspired super deformed mode. Big heads, big feet, and tiny bodies.

They also cover some of the game’s playable characters, their in-game abilities and their real life NBA career stats.

In addition to having an all new set of player models, they also showcase the all new animation system, which features smooth transitions, better ball handling, and more dynamic dunks and celebration taunts.

Much like Acclaim’s classic NBA Jam franchise, there’s also the inclusion of all new power-ups to collect, which can help either individual players or the entire team as you battle it out on the court.

The upcoming game also features an overhauled AI system and dedicated servers for the four-player online gameplay, whether you’re playing on home consoles or PC.

You’ll have access to both past and present NBA superstars, including LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Allen Iverson, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Larry Bird, Anthony Davis and Shaquille O’Neal to name but a few.

You can look for NBA Playgrounds 2 to arrive on May 22nd for home consoles and PC. Hopefully this time around Saber Interactive took time out to properly QA test the game and fix all the bugs before it went gold, otherwise they’ll have another disastrous launch on their hands just like with the release of the first NBA Playgrounds.
