Curve Digital and Solar Sail unleashed a new trailer for Soul and Sacrifice, the upcoming hand-drawn, isometric adventure game for the Nintendo Switch and PC. The game finally received an official release date, which is set for May 31st at the end of the month.
The game is about a tribe who sacrifices their children to the “light”. When one mother gives up her boy she realizes that something is wrong and decides to travel through the light to find him, only to discover that the portal leads to an underground world filled with danger.
Players will have to assume the role of Sachi, as she searches the underground land for her son and discover the mystery behind the light and the reason for the sacrifices. You can check out the story trailer below to get a rundown of the plot and the gameplay.
The art-style and perspective is very similar to Klei Entertainment’s Don’t Starve, but without the ink illustration effect.
Gameplay is like a typical mixture of the isometric survival games like Don’t Starve, but centered around a narrative-driven story about finding Sachi’s son and unraveling the mystery about the underground land, the monsters, and the world underneath the world she knows.
There’s a living, breathing ecosystem at the heart of Smoke and Sacrifice, where players will have to hunt animals, eat and stay warm, while also contending with the fact that other animals will hunt and eat each other.
A robust crafting system is also available so players can create new weapons and armor, as well as useful items to help them further explore and survive the harsh landscape.
Smoke and Sacrifice is scheduled to release on May 31st for PC and Nintendo Switch for $24.99, but the game is also scheduled to arrive for the PS4 and Xbox One in the latter half of 2018. For more info feel free to visit the Steam store page.
