Motor Trend and Lion Castle announced that the tuner racing game, Super Street: The Game, is set to launch this summer on August 3rd, later this year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and on Steam for PC.
The game is designed around tuning car culture, so if you enjoy more than just burning rubber and tearing up the asphalt with smoke and fire, you’re in luck because a large part of Super Street: The Game is based around building up your very own super street racer using more than 500 different car parts from aftermarket brand names. You can customize the interior, the exterior and everything under the hood of your makeshift ride, turning it from a heap of scraps into a road beast.
The trailer for Super Street: The Game was also released, but it shows almost nothing. You can see it in action below.
Even though the trailer showed nothing of interest during its seven seconds of revealing the release date, the press release notes that there will be five districts that you’ll be able to race across, each with their own unique feel and challenges to master.
Additionally, there will be dynamic damage, so practicing your runs and mastering the turns is a must because otherwise you’ll end up in a “spectacular crash”. They don’t mention if the crashes will force you to have to spend money to repair it, but given that a large part of the game is centered around buying parts, upgrading them and fine-tuning your car, I imagine that avoiding wrecks so you don’t have to pay out of the gaping tail-end of your wallet is a must.
According to executive producer, Anthony Kyne, the game is designed to rekindle that old-school arcade feel that has been absent from games these days, mentioning in the press release…
“ We go back to the core of the old-school arcade racing genre: delivering exciting and fast-paced automotive action for everyone”
Part of this old-school charm is also including online competitive multiplayer races, as well as offline split-screen play for local match-ups.
