10Ants Hill’s The Karters is now prepping to launch in just eight days’ time starting June 7th. The 3D kart-racing game will be available on Steam, featuring single-player, multiplayer, and split-screen racing for gamers who enjoy animal-themed racing across colorful tracks.
The game is an arcade-style racer that was originally inspired by Crash Team Racing, which came out many years ago for the sixth generation home consoles. The game had an ebb and flow of combat based around offensive and defensive maneuvers. There are were also plenty of shortcuts and a strong focus on racing tactically as opposed to simply racing skillfully.
For The Karters, 10Ants Hill has decided to include seven game modes to give players a lot of variety in how they get to race, including single races, time attack, re-fuel, letter hunt, toxic challenge, and the relay race. Beyond the arcade mode there’s also the adventure mode, which is not too dissimilar from Diddy Kong Racing.
You can get a glimpse at what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.
As you can see, the game definitely shares some similarities in both its visual and audio aesthetic with the Crash Bandicoot franchise. The lighthearted and cartoony designs fused with the drift-centric racing means that people familiar with Mario Kart should fit right in.
There are also various stage hazards you’ll have to dodge, shortcuts you’ll need to memorize, and jumps you’ll need to perfect if you want to make it to the finish line in first place.
You’ll be able to choose from six characters and race across six maps, doing so in all of the single-player modes and in the online multiplaye and split-screen modes for up to six players.
If you’re hard-up for a kart racing title, you can look to get your hands on The Karters starting June 7th.
