NIS America and Kadokawa Games released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming dungeon-crawling RPG, The Lost Child. The game is scheduled to release next month on June 19th for the PS4, PS Vita and for the Nintendo Switch as a digital download.

The gameplay trailer covers the basic gist of the story, which centers around Hayato Ibuki who becomes trapped in a world between worlds, where supernatural demons reside. After being given a weapon in order to defeat and capture demons, Ibuki travels through the in-between in order to recruit demons and fallen angels for his own cause, while attempting to solve a mystery that is affecting the real world.

Gameplay wise, The Lost Child is a throwback to classic DRPGs, where you travel through dungeons, defeat monsters, collect monsters, and loot items along the way.

To be honest, the whole world between world looks kind of lazy to me. It’s just a sewer-looking dungeon where you move through each screen layer like classic RPG dungeon-crawlers. The downside is that if you were expecting some kind of visually mesmerizing depiction of a supernatural world, you might be let down by the fact that majority of the game takes place through the winding, maze-like sewers.

You’ll have to acquire magical runes to unlock new passageways, and defeat enemies in classic turn-based combat.

The hook for the game’s combat is that as you build out your party with demons and angels, you’ll need to use their abilities in order to defeat your foes, not unlike the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner series.

As depicted in the trailer, the game will come with an English dub track, for those of you who can’t be bothered to read subtitles. Of course, as we all know, subs are still superior to dubs.
