Looking to play a new “realistic” World War II game? It looks like you’ll have one to try out or preview this year through Enlisted. The World War II MMO shooter running on the Dagor Engine was announced and buried during E3 2018, and is set launch on Xbox Game preview this year and sometime later on PC.
There was a time where World War II games flooded the market, and then a drought came, and fans of said theater of war yearned for more of that era. Now, it looks like the flood is in full force yet again with Post Scriptum, Hell let Loose, Battalion 1944, Call of Duty: WW2, Battlefield V, and Days of War either out or getting ready to come out.
Adding on to the flood comes publisher Gaijin Entertainment and developer Darkflow Software’s Enlisted. Yup, that’s right, the ones behind War Thunder, Gaijin, will be publishing this new game that made an appearance at Microsft’s E3 2018 press conference.
“Gaijin Entertainment, developer and publisher of War Thunder, announces Enlisted, a new multiplayer squad-based shooter, developed by Darkflow Software studio. The game is dedicated to the most important large scale battles of World War II .”
Given that realism seems to be a hot topic as of recent, the developers, Darkflow, chimed in and gave their take on what realism means to them:
“We want to widen the genre of realistic FPS to a bigger audience. Realism should not always mean lengthy preparation and an extended road to the first battle. Realism should be the battle conditions and weapon characteristics being close to reality, it’s in the active interaction with your team or squad, it’s in the massive battles, where you can lose hundreds of soldiers in one assault. This is what we aim for in Enlisted.”
A teaser trailer by Enlisted official channel and YouTuber DT Gaming posted a compilation of pre-alpha gameplay footage that you can look over right here:

Finally, if you happen to enjoy the Xbox Game Preview program, you will be able to play as American, Soviet, and German soldiers, and jump into “massive” WWII battles with hundreds of soldiers (some AI controlled) with other players sometime this year. If that sounds interesting, you can visit enlisted.net to learn more or apply for an upcoming alpha test.
