Here’s some huge news for point-and-click adventure fans: LucasArts’ 3D adventure-comedy, Escape From Monkey Island, is currently available as a DRM-free download over on GOG.com for just a couple of fistful of dollars.
You can grab Escape From Monkey Island for only $9.99, or for a limited time you can save 40% off on the entire Monkey Island series by picking up a copy for $22.01. This includes four games in total, starting with The Curse of Monkey Island from 1997, Escape From Monkey Island from 2000, the Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition from 2009, and finally Monkey Island 2: Special Edition from 2010.
The discount on the bundle pack will only be available up until the end of June… specifically June 26th.
The old-school, low-poly look obviously hasn’t aged quite as well as some other older titles, specifically those 2D games with pixel enhanced interpolation for that smooth look that irons out the jaggies.
Nevertheless, you likely aren’t playing a good ‘ole point-and-click adventure game from nearly two decades ago for the graphics. What you’re likely interested in is the story and fun-filled adventures featuring Guybrush Threepwood, and all the ridiculous puzzles you’ll need to solve, the jokes you’ll encounter, and the original soundtrack that various fans fell in love with way back in the day.
You can pick up a digital copy that clocks in at just 1.1GB, so you won’t need a lot of space to play the game, and GOG.com notes that Escape From Monkey Island is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, and even Windows 10. So it should have proper compatibility with most newer systems, whether you’re running a laptop for school and work purposes, or a big ‘ole mega rig for your high-end gaming needs.
If you want to pick up a copy of the game for yourself, you can do so right now by visiting the GOG.com store page.
