Fortnite Free Download Now Available For Nintendo Switch

Epic Games and Nintendo announced that Fortnite is available right now for the Nintendo Switch. You can play the game for free by downloading the Fortnite client from the Nintendo eShop right now.

The Unreal Engine 4-powered Battle Royale game is free, featuring 100 players on the battlefield who must kill each other until one remains as the victor.

The Nintendo Switch version of the game – as put on display in the trailer – supports both TV play and portable play. You’ll be able to customize your character with various skins, make in-app purchases, and play with other Switch users, other PC users, and Xbox One users.

The game made a short appearance during Nintendo’s E3 Direct, where we saw some of the short cinematic of the characters jumping out of the battle bus, but then it switched over to the actual game.

For as far as gameplay is concerned it looks pretty much the same as the other versions of Fortnite.

Right after the announcement was made a bunch of YouTubers have already begun streaming the game and playing through the third-person shooter.

It looks and plays just like the standard Fortnite. Obviously the resolution is no where near as good as the PC version, but I doubt most people expected the Switch version to look like the PC version.

The gist of the general gameplay is still exactly the same, featuring players being able to acquire resources from the environment, build forts, and attempt to snipe and kill other players in the map. All the weapons, gadgets, and gear are also present.

You can grab a free copy of the Battle Royale version of Fortnite right now on Nintendo Switch from the Nintendo eShop.
