Remothered: Tormented Fathers, Survival-Horror Game Coming To PS4, Xbox One July 25th

Darril Arts and Stormind Games’ oddly titled survival-horror game, Remothered: Tormented Fathers, managed to carve out a niche in the PC gaming sector when it released as a full title back in February of 2018, successfully graduating from Early Access and managing to win over some critics in the process. After luring in a decent audience on PC, Stormind is now looking to lure in some console gamers with Remothered: Tormented Fathers on Xbox One and PS4 when it launches July 25th.

The game will be available globally everywhere except for Asia. They do have plans to bring it to Asia when it’s viable, but not right now.

You’ll be able to pick up a digital copy from the PlayStation Store for the PS4 or the Microsoft Xbox Store for the Xbox One.

The game centers around an investigator named Rosemary Reed who looks into the disappearance of a young woman. She ends up at the creepy manor of Dr. Felton, a large and sprawling estate with many secrets and just as many horrors.

When Rosemary finally meets Dr. Felton things don’t go as planned and in her determination to find out what happened to the missing girl, Rosemary discovers the supernatural and occult-style machinations of Dr. Felton, leading to a frightening chase throughout the house as she attempts to escape.

The game is a throwback to classics like Clock Tower, Echo Night and Phantasmagoria. Remothered is a third-person horror game that relies on running and hiding, using traps, and outwitting the enemy in order to explore the house and find a way out.

The game actually escalates in a way that’s really creative. It starts with a simple setup where Rosemary attempts to escape from the house after it gets locked down and Dr. Felton goes on the hunt for her.

However, as players begin to discover the true nature of what was going on at the house, the game begins to delve deeper into the supernatural elements, unfolding in ways reminiscent of Konami’s Silent Hill 2.

It’s not a great game, but it is an inventive throwback to the classic survival-horror genre that was oh-so-popular during the late 1990s. The puzzles are grounded in reality, the traps and distractions make a lot of sense, and at various points in the game there’s a sandbox element to how you can navigate the maps. If you’re a fan of those kind of games it’s worth checking out.

You can look for the game to launch on July 25th for the Xbox One and PS4. You can also pick up a digital copy right now from the Steam store for $19.99.
