Kalypso Media announced that Sudden Strike 4: European Battlefields Edition has made its way to the Xbox One for the first time for $39.99. The game is currently available to download as a digital title from the Xbox Store or from participating retailers as a boxed edition.
The news came courtesy of a post over on Major Nelson, informing gamers about the availability of the real-time strategy game.
The Sudden Strike series has always managed to resonate well with the RTS community who have been longing, yearning for a new kind of strategy game to replace the longstanding, reputable series Company of Heroes. The last outing for the latter came out half a decade ago. Obviously, for those of you out there starved for some good real-time strategy action set during World War II with high-quality graphics, intense action, and principal tactics being the foremost way to win battles, the latest Sudden Strike 4 seems to want to quench that thirst.
What’s more is that if you don’t have a PC that can play the game but you do have an Xbox One, Sudden Strike 4: European Battlefields Edition may be right up your alley.
Like most other RTS games, the action takes place from an overhead perspective, allowing you a bird’s eye view of the map.
For console gamers you’ll be able to direct the action like directing traffic using a pause feature that will allow you to select the units you want and direct them toward certain tasks without worrying about the control scheme debilitating your strategic capabilities.
This compilation pack features the base game of Sudden Attack 4, along with three additional add-ons including the Battle of Kursk, Road to Dunkirk, and Road to Finland, along with the Winter Storm pack that contains three exclusive new maps made specifically for the Xbox One.
Unlike other World War II games out there you will be able to play as the Russians and Germans, as well as the Allied forces. So you have access to all three major factions. Sadly, no Pacific theater action will be included.
Sudden Attack 4 does feature over 100 different units to command, 20 different single-player missions, PvP for up to eight players, and a challenge mode featuring a variety of skirmish matches.
