If you like Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive’s 2017 action RPG, better known as The Surge, there’s good news for you in that the second Surge set to release sometime in 2019 for PC and home consoles has a new boss gameplay video up.
The gameplay footage that depicts the protagonist fighting a shield wielding mechanical boss out in some forest area also reveals The Surge 2’s movement and combat system, which you can see below.
Last year, the devs only teased The Surge 2 artwork, showing the main character standing in a desolate city, where a tornado raged in the distant sky with tendril-like things springing forth from it.
Not too long ago, Focus Home Interactive shared some info about the game’s new mechanics. You can read what the publisher had to say about the forthcoming title right here:
“The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original – hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system and deep character progression – while also expanding greatly upon the formula.”
Simply put, the second game will expand on the first Surge’s combat system. Expect changes that might expand the mechanics for combat and progression to new heights.
“The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck13’s upgraded and improved engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with even more options thanks to an expanded limb targeting system.”
According to Focus Home Interactive, new environments will be larger and more ambitious than the first title. No word on what changes have been made, but due to the upgraded engine expect improved designs.
“In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.”
Lastly, new weapons and upgrades will be present to help fight against new enemies and bosses.
As of right now, The Surge 2 is currently set to debut sometime in 2019 for PC and the latest home consoles.
