Coldwood Interactive and Electronic Arts had a silent release for Unravel Two, which is currently available right now for PC via Origin, and on the digital storefronts for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. You can pick up a digital copy from the official website for $19.99.
The sequel was announced and released during Electronic Arts’ EA Play, as part of the E3 festivities. The game received a brief announcement and launch trailer all in one go, as EA had bigger fish to fry at this year’s E3, specifically spending half an hour on Anthem, and an insufferable amount of time on the free-to-play Command & Conquer: Rivals for mobile devices.
Nevertheless, if you were interested in Unravel Two, you can check out the trailer below.
The sequel departs from the more sentimental first game, where players ventured through old photos to restore and rebuild forgotten memories. It was easily one of those games trying to tap into the emotions of the player.
The sequel takes a more whimsically hollow approach to the adventure, being a simple tale of Yarny and his buddy washing ashore on an island after being shipwrecked. The two encounter a magical spark that flies off into the distance, and the two decide to venture after it. That’s it.
It’s more like a Super Mario style story, so if you were hoping for more substance… too bad?
Anyway, the gameplay has been expanded, allowing for single or multiplayer gameplay, including two-player cooperative local play so you and a buddy can team up and play through the game together. You can also unlock customization skins for Yarny that can be acquired throughout the journey.
Various cooperative tactics have been added to the game, such as stringing together the yarn to create ropes for your buddy, or fashioning springy pads out of tightening the yarn threads.
If you’ve been in the mood for a cooperative puzzle-platformer, you can check out Unravel Two right now.
You can grab a digital copy of the game right now from over on the official website.
