Wreckfest Graduates From Early Access June 14th; Comes To PS4, XB1 Nov 20th

I don’t know if coming out of Early Access right smack dab during the height of E3 is the best decision, but Austrian developer Bugbear Entertainment announced that they’re finally finishing up Wreckfest and prepping it for its official release on June 14th this month.

PS4 and Xbox One gamers will also be able to get their hands on the destruction-derby style racing game when it launches later this year during the fall on November 20th.

The game originally entered into Early Access back in June of 2014, four years ago. After spending 1,611 days in Early Access, the team is finally releasing the full version. This will include more than 20 playable cars based on U.S., demolition derby vehicles, multiple tracks with gravel, tarmac, and dirt surfaces; dynamic soft-body physics for the damage and collision system; Steam Workshop support; and up to 24 players competing in online races.

You can see what the gameplay is like with the video below from Camodo Gaming.

The gameplay looks really solid so far, like an improved version of the first Flatout, which is still in my opinion the best out of the series.

I love the heft and momentum of the mass as the cars bump and grind along the stretches of the track, and brace for impact during the tight turns.

As far as the physics are concerned, I don’t think I have any complaints. It’s one of the few racing games out there that actually seems to make the vehicles perform as if they actually have some sense of weight.

Wreckfest will feature a full-on career mode, along with single-races, and online multiplayer races, as mentioned up above.

You’ll be able to make use of dedicated servers, paint and livery customization, and even a photo mode and replay system for those of you who like taking snapshots or creating some fancy machinima for your content creation audience.

You can learn more about Wreckfest by visiting the Steam store page. The game will also be available this fall for PS4 and Xbox One.
