Yo-Kai Watch 4 was recently announced for the Nintendo Switch, and will be heading to Japan this fall in 2018. This accompanies news that Level-5 will be porting more games Westward for the Nintendo Switch as well, including Yo-Kai Watch, Professor Layton and Snack World.
Nintendo Soup recently reported on Level-5’s commitment to bringing more games to North America, where CEO Yukari Hayakawa mentioned during a recent press release…
“We continue to have an overwhelming positive response when we release new opportunities as the market in North America is hungry for video games and anime as new forms of entertainment for the broader masses.”
This line-up includes Yo-Kai Watch, Snack World and Layton’s Mystery Journey. All three properties will be available at some point in the near future for Nintendo’s devices in the West. However, the press release doesn’t state whether or not these games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch or the Nintendo 3DS. Back in March, Level-5’s Akihiro Hino confirmed that the company was aiming to bring all of their major franchises to the Nintendo Switch, so it’s likely that all of the games heading to the West will be for the Nintendo Switch.
Well, part of that goal is coming true with the recent announcement that Yo-Kai Watch 4 is scheduled to release on the Nintendo Switch later this year. A debut trailer for the game was posted up on the Dante Nintendo Switch World YouTube channel.
A lot of fans were disappointed that they didn’t get to see any in-engine play or actual gameplay mechanics.
The only thing they showcased was the short bits and pieces of artwork and that the game would be out later this year.
If it’s due for release this fall, possibly during November, expect a full showcase during an upcoming Nintendo Direct or likely during this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
