Ganbare! Super Strikers Tactical RPG Soccer Game Launches July 26th

Australian based game developer, Rese, announced that the turn-based, tactical sports game, Ganbare! Super Strikers, is set to release on Steam and itch.io on July 26th at the end of the month.

The game recently received a gameplay trailer highlighting the tactical RPG mechanics, as well as the special moves, anime-style cutscenes, and dynamic pitch-based action for the upcoming title.

Rese has been working on the game for the last four years, and it’s designed to mimic the mini-game game from Final Fantasy X called Blitzball. The art-style has an old-school 32-bit cel-shaded flair to it, and as you progress through the matches you can level up your characters and unlock new abilities. You can check out the gameplay trailer below to get an idea of what the gameplay is like.

As you can see, the matches unfold over the course of turn-based strategies, with players positioned on tiled squares, not unlike Final Fantasy Tactics. You can move the characters around and perform certain moves or unleash special abilities that you can acquire that will impart a status effect on opponents if executed successfully.

There’s a Story Mode where you take on the role of a small town soccer team in Japan who must battle their way to join the Japanese national team, all in an attempt to eventually conquer the world.

You can master up to 35 different special abilities and up to 10 altered status effects. There’s also alternate game modes that allow for 7-a-side and 11-a-side matches, and you get both single-player and multiplayer modes, including local multiplayer for up to four players.

The game will launch first over on the Steam store and on itch.io starting July 26th.

Later on in the year Ganbare! Super Strikers will be available for the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch before 2018 ends.
