No Man’s Sky Next Guide: How To Customize Characters And Base Build

Are you looking for answers on how to create/customize your character in No Man’s Sky Next? Do you happen to be stuck and need help creating your own base(s)? If so, this guide aims to answer both queries. Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky Next is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Notice: The following information may not be accurate to future builds of No Man’s Sky due to updates and patches. In other words, the following information may differ if an update changes mechanics to character creation and base building.

Character Customization / First and Third Person View

To change your appearance, you will need to fly to any Space Station and search for a circular pad that reads “Appearance Modifier.” From here you will be able to change your appearance.

Thanks to YouTuber Gaming Mike, you can see an in-depth look at how character customization operates/looks in Next:

To see your custom character (or vanilla character) simply hit down on the D-pad on PS4 or Xbox One, or the “X” key on PC. This will pull up a menu, and you should be able to see a list of icons.

Go to the Gear icon labeled “Utilities” and select it. From here, you will be able to change your camera view in “Toggle Camera View” — which applies to ships, too.

Base Building

Bases can now be built anywhere on any planet, high in mountains or underwater. Hundreds of new base parts have been added to the game, where multiple bases can be constructed. If you want to learn how to find an older base that you have built in the past or learn about base building glitches, the highlighted links should come in handy.

If none of the above interests you, the following video by YouTuber SquidofLove details how to build a base.
