Vertical Strike Endless Challenge Flight Sim Now Available On Nintendo Switch

Japanese developer Project ICKX announced that the digital download for the Unity 3D-powered arcade flight sim, Vertical Strike Endless Challenge, has been made available over on the Nintendo eShop. You can grab the game right now for those of you in possession of a Nintendo Switch.

Gamer.ne.jp is reporting that the game just became available on the Switch on July 19th, 2018.

It was originally announced for the Switch back in May of 2018 after having had a decent run on Steam for PC. In fact, it’s still available on PC for $4.99 after having launched back in April of 2017.

You can check out the minute long gameplay video below to get an idea of what the gameplay is like.

The game has passably okayish graphics and an easy pick-up-and-play style flight maneuverability mechanism.

The game doesn’t have an actual campaign mode. Instead you have two game modes that are endless survival modes. The first is the Anti-Air Arcade Mode, where you’ll battle it out against other jet fighter planes, using your wits and skills to dodge their incoming fire and blast them out of the sky.

The second mode is the Anti-Ship Mode, which sees you attempting to take down a number of naval craft while dodging the cannons and turrets.

The game doesn’t have many options to it, but you can customize your loadout by selecting from a a decent list of guns and missile options, along with being able to modify the plane you’ll be flying during the mission.

The Nintendo Switch doesn’t have many games based around flight, so this is a nice little change of pace for the console. It’s a shame that Vertical Strike Endless Challenge isn’t a meatier game, but if you’re starved for flight sims on your Nintenod Switch, you can pick up a digital copy from the Nintendo eShop.
