Apparently the mobile port of Gear.Club Unlimited for the Nintendo Switch did well enough to warrant attention from French publisher Microids and developer Eden Games to work on porting Gear.Club Unlimited 2 to the Nintendo Switch as well. In fact, both companies just recently announced that the sequel to last year’s racing game will be making its way to the Nintendo eShop starting at the end of 2018.
Microids was particularly impressed with the French gaming studio and felt like this was opportunity to further put the Parisian developers on the map with Gear.Club Unlimited 2. Eden Games was all too happy to oblige, with the CEO of the company, David Nadal, noting in the press release that they took feedback from the core community to improve on Gear.Club Unlimited 2, saying…
“Gear.Club Unlimited was an opportunity for us to grasp all of the features offered by the Nintendo Switch. Based on this experience and feedback from players, our aim with Gear.Club Unlimited 2 is to bring them an even richer racing game, which still bears Eden Games’ signature!”
As the old saying goes, “Words are cheap”. For the most part, gamers want to see if the improvements are tangible and legit, and thankfully there’s a new trailer for Gear.Club Unlimited 2 to give gamers an idea of what to expect from the upcoming racer.
The minute long trailer starts with a showcase of the different biomes you’ll be able to visit this time around, including forests, deserts, snow-canvassed mountains, villages, and urban locations.
The game reminds me of older Need For Speed titles like Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit or Microsoft’s Project Gotham Racing.
Gear.Club Unlimited 2 will feature up to 1,800 miles of roadway to race on, along with the deep customization feature that was in the original. You’ll also be able to create and manage your own clubs, recruiting drivers and competing in club races.
They don’t roll out any further details on the sequel, but I imagine that we’ll get a few more trailers diving into the mechanics, physics, and gameplay options ahead of the release of Gear.Club Unlimited 2.
