Override: Mech City Brawl Free Closed Beta Gets Underway August 10th

There’s a weekend closed beta test set to take place for the multiplayer mech-city brawler, Override. The game, from The Balance and Modus Games, will run a limited CBT from August 10th through August 12th.

You can sign-up for the free closed-beta test right now by visiting the official Override website.

The beta will include a number of locations and mechs to play, which happens to be outlined in a brand new trailer showcasing the giant mech action. You can check out the trailer below.

As they note in the video, you can play the beta on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and the beta will feature 12 playable mechs, along with local four-player and online four-player battles. The combat looks extremely fluid and smooth, and the physics-based destruction is immeasurably satisfying.

The game reminds me of a mix between Power Rangers, Virtual-On and SNK’s classic King of the Monsters brought to life in full blown 3D.

The CBT is is designed around the two and four-player competitive free-for-all matches in order to test the characters and some of the specials.

The team is looking for feedback in order to refine the gameplay and make some balance adjustments ahead of the full release. The full game is scheduled to release on December 4th for home consoles and PC for $29.99, along with a special edition that will be available both digitally and at retail outlets for $39.99.

The full game will feature real-world locations that you can destroy and obliterate, such as San Francisco, Mexico, and Egypt… but mostly San Francisco. There are multiple game modes including versus, co-op, and a single-player campaign mode, along with party co-op modes, a garage where you can customize the mechs, and – as mentioned up top – the ability to play local multiplayer or online multiplayer.
