A new gameplay trailer was released for Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal’s upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which is set to release on September 12th. The latest trailer actually focuses on Lara Croft’s spelunking ability, as she dives into old, dangerous, trap-laden tombs.
The trailer is only just over a half minute long, and it doesn’t wallow in a lot of the cinematic, slow-paced, Hollywood-wannabe demonstrations that are usually featured during trade shows. No, this time around the trailer is short and straight to the point, wasting little to no time getting the good word out about the kind of gameplay experience you’ll be able to expect from Shadow of the Tomb Raider. You can check it out below.
We see a handful of different tombs, some of them featuring miniature pyramids for Lara to scale, others featuring old, decrepit pirate ships, while some look like they’re paying homage to the classic Tomb Raider games of old.
The trailer doesn’t focus much on the kind of traps or platforming gimmicks featured in Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s tombs. The only clips they include is Lara rappelling down into a tomb’s entrance; Lara walking across a vine-twined bridge; and Lara examining some corridors with traps.
It’s not terribly exciting to say the least.
It’s a follow-up on the other half-minute trailer about the “stunning worlds” that Lara will explore in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It came out back at the end of July. You can check it out below in case you missed it before.
The trailer covering the environments isn’t particularly interesting given that it’s just a flyby of some of the locations that Lara will visit.
Anyway, I’m not really looking forward to Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but if you are looking forward to it you can grab a copy starting September 12th for PC, PS4, or Xbox One. If you’re actually interested in the game you can visit the official website to learn more.
