Shenmue 3 will continue the story of the older two games that launched in 1999 and 2001, respectively. The third outing will be available for PC and PS4 on August 27th, 2019. This announcement was made by publisher Deep Silver and developer Ys Net at Gamescom 2018.
Back in May of this year, we learned from Shenmue 3 publisher, Deep Silver, and director, Yu Suzuki, that the game needed more time in development thus pushing its release from this year to 2019. However, Ys Net has released a new video and blog post on shenmue.link/post detailing what’s to come.
Although Shenmue 3 won’t release any time soon for PC and PS4, you can get a good look at the “Prophecy Trailer” right here:
Hopefully, the long wait time means gamers will be able to play a well-polished game at launch since it’s a year out from hitting store shelves and the digital scene. Ultimately, though, we’ll have to wait and see what’s going to happen and if the game will be able to meet its March 2019 release date.
Furthermore, the last time we heard about Shenmue 3 revolved around its crowdfunding campaign reaching $7 million, unlocking the “AI Battling” feature. The “AI Battling” system will be implemented in the game, letting players automatically respond to an opponent’s positioning and distance.
Research and development (R&D) for this system is based on Yu Suzuki’s concept for players who are new to Shenmue 3′s fighting mechanics or for those who want an “immersive” fighting experience.
In addition to the above, this battle system is said to be “highly compatible” with the current version and will be an extension to the base system.
While we wait for future Shenmue 3 information to drop, you can read the latest post on the game’s official website through the given link. Lastly, are you looking forward to playing Shenmue 3 or are you holding out because of a particular reason?
