Team Sonic Racing may not be like Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, but it looks like Sega, this time around, aims for a team-centric racing game. We can see this in the newly released video trailer showing in-game footage of teamwork front and center. Publisher Sega and developer Sumo Digital will release Team Sonic Racing in Q4 2018.
If you enjoy the more slow and methodical take that Team Sonic Racing is boasting as well as team play, then you might find Team Sonic Racing to be a game that targets your interests.
The game is gearing up to release this winter for PC via Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch has a new gameplay video spotlighting some of the team-based actions that can be executed on the black tops.
The first thing revealed in the video is “Skimboost.” This mechanics allows teammates to boost struggling teammates back into action as you drive by.
Like the ballad of Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights, “Slingshot” is much like Shake N’ Bake where you can slipstream a teammate for a slingshot boost.
Other mechanics such as “Rival Takedown” are highlighted in the video, with this move, in particular, knocking out highlighted opponents ahead.
You can also transfer items by using “Item Box Transfer” to send and receive Wisps with teammates anywhere on the track. And lastly, “Team Ultimate” is a special meter that you can fill up and unleash as a massive team booster.
You can check out all of the listed mechanics in the newly published video that sits below:
According to Sega, folks won’t be playing this game this quarter. If, however, you’re excited to get a hold of Team Sonic Racing, expect it to drop sometime late this year since it has a release window of “this winter.” You can learn more about this title by visiting sonicthehedgehog.com.
