E-Line Media announced that the hybrid sandbox-creation game, The Endless Mission, will head into beta testing this September on Steam. The beta will accompany E-Line heading to PAX West this September as well, where gamers who pay a visit to booth #7317 will have an opportunity to check the game out firsthand.
The beta on Steam will precede an Early Access run on Steam, which is set to take place at the end of 2018.
The hook for The Endless Mission is that it’s a sandbox game where you create your own adventures or create your own game using a variety of easy-to-use tools. This enables gamers to create 3D platformers, hack-and-slash adventure games, and even racing titles.
The Unity 3D-powered game creation suite also received a new gameplay trailer to give you an idea of how it all comes together.
The Endless Mission is a lot like Project Spark. It’s a community-driven game with an actual story where you create and mod levels in order to progress.
There are basic templates you can use to create your very own games, including futuristic racers like F-Zero or classic 3D platformers like Super Mario 64.
You can also make RTS games, or action-oriented fighting games. What’s more is that as you play through and create these projects, you can also unlock additional assets to make more games across more diverse genres. For instance, it’s possible to make an RTS title but then add the vehicles from the racing game to the RTS map and start driving around at your own leisure.
Alternatively, it’s possible to take the enemies from the strategy module and place them in the 3D platforming level to create an all new kind of challenge.
