Amazon Game Studios is working on an MMO, open-ended sandbox PC game set in a supernatural version of Northern America in the 17th century named New World. Not much information on New World is out there, but the devs recently posted up new screenshots.
If you don’t know, two years after Amazon Game Studio’s initial announcement at TwitchCon 2016, the studio revealed its first three PC games: Breakaway, Crucible, and New World.
Amazon Game Studios announced the cancellation of the team-based online game Breakaway back in March of this year (2018). Crucible, however, is a 12-player, class-based game that’s still in development.
As for the game under the microscope today, New World, it’s an MMO where “players can be anything they want” from farmers to soldiers to lone wolves. Choices are said to be entirely up to players in a world that’s constantly “evolving” with changing seasons, weather, and time of day.
According to the devs, you can work with others to reclaim monster-inhabited areas and build new civilizations. Solo play in this MMO is said to be encouraged too, but time will tell how this game will pan out.
With all of that said, you can check out the newly posted screenshots that are not anything to write home about, but you can see here:

According to Amazon Game Studios, the team’s goal is to “unite gamers” and “broadcasters” to redefine “gaming.” however not much has been shown that doesn’t separate it from the other thousands of MMOs out there.
Lastly, what do you think of Amazon Game Studios and its upcoming MMORPG New World? Do you think it will be just another cash grab faceless MMO or do you think it will have something to offer?
