Looking for a “realistic” space sim to play? PC goers will be able to assume the role of an astronaut in Wilhelmsen Studios’ Reentry – An Orbital Simulator right now through a free demo. The upcoming space sim that has a release date of “soon” seeks to explore the act of leaving Earth using detailed controls and schematics.
The main gist of Reentry is controlling almost every system in a shuttle but in a sim-like setup. This includes orbiting and exploring the surface of Earth and the Moon.
Furthermore, space shuttles and other Earth textures aren’t all that hot as of this moment, but the cockpit of the ships look pretty nice up close. You can check out stills of in-game control panels and other toggles right here:
If those images look interesting, you can see actual gameplay footage (Early Access footage) of Reentry thanks to Petri Wilhelmsen‘s YouTube channel.
“Do you have what it takes to be an astronaut? Reentry is a realistic space flight simulator based on NASAs space programs; from the first American human spaceflight in Project Mercury, the rendezvous and EVAs of Project Gemini to the Moon landing in Project Apollo.”
I should note that the devs have redeveloped the game to feature a more stable platform, physics, and simulations. This also gives the devs more room to enhance graphics and animations.
Moreover, the new version of Reentry is not out for download yet, but the old version is playable as of now. The new version will be posted up once the devs have some more content and academy tutorials added in the game. With that said, here’s the link to play the free demo of Reentry – An Orbital Simulator.
Reentry has no release date, but it will hit PC via Steam sometime soon. Until then, you can learn more about this sim by heading on over to reentrygame.com.
