THQ Nordic and Avalanche Studios announced that theHunter: Call of the Wild 2019 will be released next month starting October 16th for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game will be available digitally on PC for $39.99, while the home console version will retail for $44.99.
The game will feature a variety of maps from the series since 2017 to scour as you hunt down big game across the German farmlands located in Hisrchfelden; sift the forests of Layton Lake District in northern America; scout the open Vurhonga Savanna in West Africa; and trek across the icy tundra of the Medved-Taiga National Park located in the blistering cold region of Siberia.
The different landscapes will require different hunting tactics as you attempt to score kills against various prey and predators alike through familiar and new locations. You can get a look at the new Vurhonga Savanna with the trailer below.
The teaser doesn’t show much, but you definitely get an idea of how wide open, gorgeous, and dangerous the new environment is.
A second, more traditional trailer was also revealed, featuring a minute and a half worth of gameplay and some of the standard mechanics that most fans of theHunter have come to enjoy.
I have to admit, the trailer is really, really good.
Just Cause’s Apex Engine looks fantastic in action.
The natural lighting gives off what looks like global illumination – we can see the soft shadows cast across the environment by foliage and surrounding trees, which affects visibility and tracking.
The fog dithering in the distance and pristine use of screen space ambient occlusion in some of those shots is just breathtaking. It almost looks like some kind of hyper-realistic nature painting.
Now the press release didn’t make any mention whatsoever of a story, but the trailer seems to hint at the 2019 outing having some kind of additional plot.
Anyway, theHunter: Call of the Wild 2019 will come with everything from the 2017 edition of theHunter, but with added vehicles, all of the previously released DLC, plus the new African map.
You can look for theHunter: Call of the Wild 2019 to launch on October 16th next month for home consoles and PC.
