Gunfire Games and THQ Nordic released a new trailer for Darksiders III featuring Fury and her horse out in the middle of a desert while a cover of America’s “A Horse With No Name” plays in the background.
The game has been given an anemic marketing campaign leading up to its release, and this is likely due to the fact that THQ Nordic probably doesn’t want to dump a lot of money into the project because they’re expecting small returns, or it’s because they believe this is going to be one of those evergreen games that will stack up the sales over the course of a long tail thanks to positive word of mouth. For fans of the Darksiders series you’re probably hoping and praying it’s the latter, otherwise expect to see the brand go kaput… again.
Anyway, despite the anorexic sparsity of trailers for the game, Darksiders III managed to receive several new trailers within a two week span ahead of its launch on November 27th. The latest trailer is actually more of a music video than a traditional promo video, which you can check out below.
We see Fury walking along with her horse out in the middle of the desert during the morning, at dusk, and finally during the evening.
There’s no combat, no voiceovers, no story details – just Fury and the horse with the name “Rampage”.
This is one of the few times where the art-style actually seemed to pop. I still kind of wish that they would have done something a little more unique with her hair. It would have been awesome if her hair was more like a fake volumetric fog that kind of floated like mist in the air behind her.
Anyway, it doesn’t have a whole lot of hype heading into its release, and it’s going to depend on hardcore fans to really bolster the sales for THQ Nordic. So we’ll see how well the whole thing turns out when it launches on November 27th, 2018 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
