Dire Wolf Digital announced that Eternal, the digital collectible card game, will be making its way to the Xbox One at some point later this month. The game originally came out on PC as an Early Access title back in November of 2016. It’s been in development ever since as a free-to-play game.

The game is definitely a couple of years behind its initial Early Access release schedule, where Dire Wolf had originally only planned to keep Eternal in Early Access for a few months.

According to the press release, the launch of Eternal on the Xbox One will coincide with the game graduating from Early Access on Steam. Dire Wolf will also implement cross-play support for cross-platform functionality, enabling iOS, Android, Steam users, and Xbox One gamers to all play against each other.

The hook for Eternal is that it’s a collectible card game that combines magic with Wild West themes. You’ll have six-shooters and gunslingers taking on magicians and sorcerers.

You’ll need to gather your cards, perfect your tactics and overcome your opponent. It’s like a typical CCG such as Hearthstone or Infinity Wars.

According to Dire Wolf Digital, they also have plans on starting cash prize tournaments, which will be part of their cross-platform promotional strategy to get gamers involved no matter what platform they play on. Scott Martins, the president of Dire Wolf Digital, mentioned in the press release…

“Hopefully Eternal reflects a lot of the lessons learned during that time in terms of economic generosity, variety of game modes, and depth of play. Coming to Xbox One and beginning our World Championship series is a big part of the next step for us and our goals for what Eternal can become: cross-platform, competitive strategy gaming where anyone can participate on a fair, honestly free playing field.”

The world championship series will culminate in a $100,000 tournament finale in the spring of 2019.
