A lot of gamers were worried that due to the recent era of NPCs and the political Yakuza coming down hard on newer games and how they portray female characters, that Capcom would forbid the appearance of Claire Redfield’s classic costume from the 1998 version of Resident Evil 2 in the upcoming Resident Evil 2 Remake. However, there’s good news in that Capcom has kept Claire’s old outfit with the spandex shorts and cutoff jeans.
There’s a 44 second trailer that showcases Leon and Claire in their classic outfits. We see that Leon is in his RPD outfit, and it looks like the classic blue outfit that everyone fell in love with 20 years ago.
We also see Claire rocking the cranberry red jumpsuit, featuring a sleeveless vest with the spandex tank-top on underneath. She rocks a necklace that dips down between her cleavage. You can check out the trailer below.
There’s a knife holster on her left shoulder and the high-cut matching jean shorts over the black spandex.
This puts to rest many of the fears that Capcom wasn’t going to feature Claire’s classic outfit in the game because of the industry being taken captive by the terrorist ideology of third-wave feminism.
You can rest easy knowing that not only is Claire’s classic outfit making a return, but you can also unlock it by simply playing through the game. In a way, it’s a bit of a bummer that the surprise is ruined by the announcement ahead of the game’s release, but it’s also a bit of a relief knowing that the game wasn’t compromised to suit the agendas of the NPC menace currently terrorizing and assimilating the video game industry.
You can look for Resident Evil 2 to launch next year on January 25th, 2019 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and on Steam for PC.
