The Liar Princess And The Blind Prince Launches February 12th, 2019 On Nintendo Switch

NIS America announced that the hand-animated, hack-and-slash puzzle game, The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince launches February 12th, 2019 for the Nintendo Switch and PS4. The release date news was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer that highlights some of the mechanics, platforming, combat and puzzles.

The game was initially announced back in August of 2018 for both Sony and Nintendo’s home consoles but there wasn’t a whole lot of details about how the game plays out.

In the new two minute trailer we see a quick recap of the story.

Nippon Ichi Software’s side-scrolling action-adventure game is kind of the inverse of Ico. Instead of playing as the intrepid adventurer rescuing a princess, you instead play as a lying princess who transforms into a werewolf.

The princess mistakenly scratches out a young naïve prince’s eyes one day while he wandered off into the forest. Feeling bad for her mistake, she opts to help lead him back home.

Players will have to guide the Princess and the Prince back home. This means hacking and slashing your way through enemies as the werewolf, and solving puzzles to help guide the blind prince across bridges, gaps, and other forest hazards.

You’ll need to alternate between the Princess and her wolf form in order to complete the objectives and navigate your way back through the forest.

It’s one of those off-beat kind of games that’s not entirely a platformer, not wholly a puzzle game, and not fully a hack-and-slash title. It takes a little bit from each genre and dumps them in a mixing bowl of hand-drawn art based on classical Japanese woodblock ink paintings.

If you were looking for something unique to play in early February, you can look for The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince to launch for the Nintendo Switch and PS4.
