Travis Strikes Again Trailers Cover Co-op Arcade Games

Grasshopper Manufacturer and Marvelous Entertainment released a new trailer for Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes on the Nintendo Switch, showcasing one of the many mini-games featured in the hack-and-slash, co-op action title.

The trailer is only a minute long and it’s for the game within a game called Coffee and Doughtnuts. It sees Travis and Bad Man taking on a number of foes using the lightsaber and bat to beat the mess out of the baddies. It’s a traditional side-scroller designed to be a classic eight-direction beat-’em-up, which is actually pretty cool.

You can check out the trailer for the game below.

There are traditional beat-’em-up segments, where you fight through countless enemies, as well as challenge-based platforming segments where you have to jump across mushrooms and doughnuts, as if you were racing through a Super Mario Bros. game.

There are even boss fights in the game, such as Brian Buster Jr., where you have to learn his pattern, bust him up the butt, and whittle his life down to nothing.

A week before the Coffee and Doughnuts trailer was released, Grasshopper Manufacturer released a trailer for Life Is Destroy, which is another co-op arcade game, except it’s a top-down hack-and-slash title, very similar to Hotline Miami.

Before that the company introduced Electric Thunder Tiger III, which is another hack-and-slash arcade game, but it seems a little like it’s taking some cues from The Game Bakers’ Furi. No complaints here about that.

It appears that in each of the arcade mini-games Travis will teleport in like The Terminator. The story itself is based on Travis being attacked by Bad Man, the father of the girl Travis killed in the previous No More Heroes. While tussling inside of the trailer the duo end up knocking over a game console that sucks them up and forces them to play through a series of classic arcade games. They reluctantly team up to help each other get through the levels and survive the odd challenges set before them.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is due for release on January 18th, 2019 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
