On February 5th, 2019, Electronic Arts released a PDF file and other related material for people who tuned-in to its Q3 FY19 financial results. However, said results brought forth interesting points when the company spoke to investors regarding Anthem’s sales forecast before the end of the fiscal year.
EA’s Q3 financial results were listed yesterday, but more information has surfaced from the financial results. Not too long ago, publication site gamesindustry.biz picked up on the information relayed on ir.ea.com, which explains that Bioware’s Anthem is expected to reach projected sales before the end of March 31st, 2019.
If you happen to be curious as to what the target figure is that EA set for Anthem before the given date, according to company COO and CFO, Blake Jorgensen, he told EA’s investors that it has modeled “between five and six million sales for Anthem.”
In other words, Jorgensen and crew expect Bioware’s online game (that launches on February 22nd) to move five or six million units within six weeks. Additionally, EA CEO Andrew Wilson forecast has not changed since the last quarter — despite issues that surfaced in Anthem’s demo — which coincides with Jorgensen’s outlook.
Although Anthem’s demo garnered a mix reaction from gamers, with both positive and negative takes currently up, Wilson told the company’s investors the following information:
“We think there is a great opportunity, not just this year for [Anthem], but that should sell well for a long period of time as we add more content through the live service plan.”
To clarify what Wilson said, he thinks that 2019 will be a “great opportunity” for Anthem thanks to a live service plan that will bring content throughout the game’s active life cycle.
Well, we’ll find out soon what will go down given that Anthem will ship out to those who have Origin Access Premier, which makes the full game accessible on February 15th, 2019.
Lastly, the official game will release across PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 22nd, 2019.
