Stardock Entertainment announced that the newest major expansion pack for Galactic Civilizations III will go live starting February 21st, 2019 for $19.99.
Galactic Civilizations 3 originally came out back in 2015, but Stardock are still supporting the game with new content. The all new expansion is called Retribution, and it will go live at the end of the month, featuring all new artifacts, two brand new civilizations to interact with, and more 4x space strategy for those of you who enjoy the grand space experience.
You can check out the all new two minute gameplay trailer for the Galactic Civilizations 3: Retribution expansion below.
The trailer covers the ancient civilization known as the Precursors, who used to have some advanced and devastating technology at their fingertips before going extinct, or so everybody thought. From the farthest reaches of space, different factions are now journeying to find and obtain the Precursors’ technology to use it for their own ends.
It reminds me a little bit of the humans and Covenant fighting over the Forerunner technology, which seemed like a storyline that had been grossly mishandled by the time Bungie left and 343 Industries stepped into their place, but that’s neither here nor there.
Back on topic, Galactic Civilizations III: Retribution introduces players to the hypergates, which will allow for distant travel to new areas where brand new civilizations can be discovered, interacted with, or goaded into war. This is separate from the hyperdrives that are used to speed up the process of travel around the galaxy, or the stargates that were featured in the lore from previous entries of Galactic Civilizations.
As part of the Retribution campaign that players will be able to play through, there are also all new supply ships that you can construct, and a brand new tech tree that adds more research options and depth to how you develop your empire.
You can wishlist the expansion pack for Galactic Civilizations III: Retribution over on the Steam store page right now.
