Skullgirls 2nd Encore Pre-Orders Go Live For Nintendo Switch, Xbox One Limited Retail Editions

Skybound Games announced that Skullgirls 2nd Encore will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch and the Xbox One this spring. A special limited physical edition will also be available alongside the digital release on the Nintendo eShop and Xbox Store.

Skybound also announced that pre-orders for the limited edition are currently live. The physical version of Skullgirls 2nd Encore will be available for $49.99, and it will come with the base game, along with the all of the previously released LDC, a special Switch controller skin, and the original soundtrack that was composed by Michiru Yamane on a 12” vinyl record, available in that format for the very first time.

The game retains the entire cast of characters and the lightning fast 60fps gameplay that the series had become known for when it originally came out.

Even though the game is pretty old at this point, I’m sure plenty of gamers wouldn’t mind getting their hands on the classic 2D fighter if not for the sake of fleshing out their Switch’s library with fighting games, at least perhaps for the ability to finally play Skulls 2nd Encore in the portable mode with all of the content intact.

The game did suffer from some minor censorship back in the day when Social Justice Warriors compelled Lab Zero to cover up the girls’ panties during some of their moves, but otherwise the game stayed intact. It’s still a crying shame that fan-service as simple as a few frames of sneaking a peek up the skirts of fictional 2D characters was still too much even for a game like Skullgirls.

Anyway, you’ll be able to grab the game from digital outlets and for a limited time as a retail purchase from over on the Skybound website, or you can check out playable builds at PAX East this March.
