Saber Interactive announced that the four-player cooperative third-person shooter, World War Z, is set to launch on the Xbox One, PS4, and on the Epic Games Store for PC (sorry, no Steam release this time around… or at least, not this year) starting April 16th, later this spring.
The announcement came courtesy of a 40 second gameplay trailer confirming the release date while also showcasing more of the game. You can check out the trailer below.
The game is set across a handful of different maps, each one featuring a handful of different playable characters, and lots of different weaponry to use in order to dispense of the undead foes.
Apparently Saber Interactive teamed up with Focus Home Interactive to publish the title digitally and physically for home consoles and via the Epic Games Store for PC.
They also announced that there will be pre-order bonuses available for the game, which includes a Lobo Weapon Pack, three golden gun skins for the ARK-1093 assault rifle, the Keris V10 SMG, and the 1911 Protector. There’s also a Lobo melee weapon, which is a dual-bladed spade.
You’ll be able to use the weapon in the single-player campaign mode, the co-op mode, and the PvPvZ modes, which were recently announced just a few days ago. The PvPvZ modes allow players to go head-to-head-to-head in 4-vs-4 bouts while zombies swarm the levels. It’s a little bit like throwing deathmatch into a horde mode. I don’t know how well that’s going to turn out, but it could be fun depending on how the gunplay functions and depending on the setup of the maps.
Anyway, the game is due out on April 16th for the Xbox One, PS4, and for the last time, the Epic Games Store for PC. You can learn more about World War Z by visiting the official website.
