U.K., publishing outfit Sold Out has teamed up with the indie studio Imagineer to release Little Friends: Dogs & Cats exclusively on the Nintendo Switch in late spring of this year. The game will be available as a digital download over on the Nintendo eShop.
This is basically one of the first pet simulated games focusing on realistic interaction between the animals this generation. Sure there was Tokyo Jungle and Life of Black Tiger, but those games don’t feature cute animals like Little Friends: Dogs & Cats.
The game allows you to choose from a variety of different puppy and kitten breeds, where you’ll need to play with your adorable little pet, as well as keep them fed, nurtured, and loved. You can also dress them up in different outfits, too.
As you can see, you can play with the pets, take them for a stroll in the park, or have some fun at home. There’s also a robust pet customization feature available so you can deck them out in different kinds of outfits, including body suits, hats, and facial accessories.
I’m not into games like this but I can very easily see Little Friends catching on with young kids and casual audiences, since it seems to be the kind of product you can sink time into without worrying about being competitive or being constrained for time, or having to dedicate any large amounts of attention to what you’re doing.
You can play with up to three pets at a time, or collect up to 12 pets at a pet hotel. You’ll be able to choose between six breeds of animals, including three kittens, a Labrador Retriever, a German Shepherd, and a French Bulldog You can also play mini-games and participate in flying disc tournaments, as well as unlock new toys for each of the animals.
The game will sport over 600 different customization accessories, as well as compatibility for both TV play and portable gaming.
You can look for Little Friends: Dogs & Cats to launch in North America and Europe in late spring, or you can get your hands on the title at the demo booth at PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts.
