Ghost 1.0 And Unepic Metroidvania Physical Collector’s Edition Coming To Nintendo Switch

EastasiaSoft and Spanish developer Francisco Téllez de Meneses announced that two new-school metroidvania titles will be making their way to the Nintendo Switch as physical collector’s items for the Nintendo Switch starting in the third quarter of 2019.

Francisco made both titles, one set in a medieval setting featuring swords, sorcery and the whole wizard works, while the second game is closer to the likes of Super Metroid, where you travel around sci-environments as a high-tech android with upgradeable equipment and skills.

The physical re-release of Ghost 1.0 and Unepic will only be available in limited quantities, though. You’ll be able to pre-order the collection for the Nintendo Switch starting May 30th, 2019 from over on the Play-Asia store.

Additionally, Ghost 1.0 will be available as a physical release on the PlayStation 4, as well. There will only be 1,000 physical copies made of Ghost 1.0 for the PS4, while only 4,000 copies of the Unepic and Ghost 1.0 collection for the Nintendo Switch will be produced.

The full collection will come with both games on a single region-free cart for the Switch, a fully colored printed manual, the soundtracks for both games on two individual CDs, a collector’s certificate, and a specially made collector’s box with an embossed logo on it.

Both games also support various regional languages, including English, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, traditional Mandarin, simplified Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Korean.

Basically, if you’re into side-scrolling metroidvania games, and you want physical copies of these games for your Nintendo Switch, EastAsiaSoft is looking to fulfill that desire.

It’s a shame that physical releases of classic indie games are in such short supply. In the age of digital distribution I absolutely appreciate any effort to bring physical copies of these games to collectors and gamers who just don’t trust corporations to retain the integrity of their digital identity. Heck, we see often enough that Electronic Arts will shut down game servers in a heartbeat, rendering various titles completely unplayable. So these limited edition offers are a great way to preserve historical gaming culture in an age where corporations are desperately trying to strip away consumer rights and the historical legacies of some software.

Anyway, you’ll be able to pre-order the Switch or PS4 versions from over on the Play-Asia.com store page beginning May 30th.
