It: Chapter 2 Trailer Boasts Pennywise, The Losers Club And A Creepy Old Lady

It: Chapter 2 is set to hit movie theaters this summer and, to help prepare audiences for the horror to come, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for the blood-splattered epic boasting a visit with the worst old lady in the world.

The story of It: Chapter 2 takes place about 30 years following the conclusion of the first film, with everyone’s favorite nightmare clown returning to the town of Derry to feed on the young and terrorize members of The Losers Club, a group of childhood friends who managed to defeat him in the first outing. The new trailer opens on Beverly Marsh visiting her childhood home, where an increasingly disturbing old woman now resides.

When the first It hit theaters about two years ago, it was against some seriously high expectations. The movie had a lot stacked against it before opening night. Some folks weren’t too thrilled about the fact that the story would be broken into two films, as opposed to the three-hour marathon seen in the 1990 adaptation. On top of that, we had young actor Bill Skarsgard taking on the iconic role of Pennywise the clown. Not only did the new Pennywise look quite a bit different from the original, but you’ve definitely got some big shoes to fill when you’re taking over a role originally played by Tim Curry.

And then there’s the director, Andres Muschietti, whose only major credit before It was the mostly overlooked 2013 horror flick, Mama.

As it turns out, we had nothing to worry about. The original It turned out to be a fun, frantic and spooky spin on the 1,000- page novel that pleased both critics and fans alike. The new cast includes the likes of Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Jay Ryan, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Andy Bean and James Ransone, and the new trailer shows off plenty of eerie moments crammed into just three minutes, so here’s hoping the final showdown between Pennywise and The Losers Club manages to stick the landing.
