Headup Games and Devespresso Games’ Vambrace: Cold Soul is a rare combination Gothic-fantasy with an anime-influenced art-style, Darkest Dungeon-style combat, and some neat little elements to add some unique flavor to the game, such as the ability to customize Evelia Lyric’s look while you’re roaming around town.
The developers dropped a new trailer for the upcoming game, showcasing what the town exploration is like, as you move through the underground city in search of mercenaries, items, and new combat gear.
You’ll need to spend your hard earned cash on more than just attire for Evelia, though. You’ll also need some of the best of the best when it comes to warriors accompanying you by your side into battle, so you’ll need to choose wisely from a wide array of different characters across different classes. You can get a glimpse of what it’s like in the trailer below.
As you go around town, resting up after battle, acquiring and crafting new items, you’ll also be able to unlock new side-quests and optional missions in addition to the main story mission.
But the real highlight is that the game allows you to recruit a lot of hot looking chicks and tough looking dudes to your team. Now I know what you’re thinking “But Billy-san, what about hot cat boys?” Well, you degenerate furries will have some cute cat-boys to ogle in the game alongside the hot cat-girls.
When you visit inns you’ll be able to hit up the dressing room and put Evelia in different clothes you’ve unlocked throughout the the journey. Unfortunately we don’t get to see many of her clothing options other than her adventure garb and civilian clothes. They do mention on the store page that the game will have a total of 26 different skins to unlock for Evelia, so that’s a fairly promising feature for replayability right there. And heck even if the base game doesn’t have skins I’m sure it would be possible to mod some in.
I can already imagine what some of the clothing mods for this game will be like.
Heck, why stop at clothing mods? I’m sure some of the portraits will be subject to the whims of creatively lubricious minds.
Anyway, beyond the obvious lewding that characters like Evelia might undergo, the base game itself will offer up seven full chapters to play through, five different races and 10 unique character classes to recruit, along with permadeath for party members.
The developers at Devespresso openly admitted that popular fan-favorites like Darkest Dungeon, Castlevania and The Elder Scrolls helped inspire the core design of Vambrace: Cold Soul.
You can look for the game to launch on GOG.com and over on the Steam store starting May 28th, 2019 at the end of the month.
