Void Bastards, Roguelike FPS From BioShock Dev Releases May 29th

Humble Bundle announced that the official release date for the space-faring, sci-fi roguelike from the makers of BioShock, called Void Bastards, will officially release on via the Humble Bundle Store and on Steam for PC starting May 29th at the end of the month.

The announcement for the release date was accompanied by a brand new trailer featuring some new gameplay elements and cinematics. You can check it out below.

Visually the game looks like a comic book come to life. It has a pretty cool art-style that’s a little bit retro and a little bit modern. It has all the latest particle and lighting effects from today’s technology, but with flat coloring to give the game a more old-school, printed comic look.

Beyond the unique art-style that will probably lure in fans of Blake Stone and Chex Quest, the actual gameplay is themed around trying to survive sometimes seemingly impossible odds while assuming the role of disposal prisoners who are tasked with journeying across the Nebula and looting gear, completing missions, and fighting against aliens.

The game was made by Irrational Games co-founder Jonathan Chey, who helped bring BioShock and BioShock 2 to life.

This would make for game number three for Humble Bundle to roll out for gamers, with their latest previous title being Forager, which went on to move more than 200,000 units.

The upcoming game doesn’t really seem like it will be that big, but a lot of it depends on the replayability and how well it will reach its intended audience. I imagine a lot of this will be dependent on which influencers manage to get their hands on the game and signal boost it throughout the farthest reaches of their audience.

Anyway, you can look for Void Bastards to launch on May 29th at the end of the month. You can learn more about the game by visiting the official Humble Bundle page for the game.
