At the moment NekoNyan is currently Kickstarting the physical release for Aokana: Four Rhythms Across The Blue. The crowdfund has gathered more than $75,563 as of this writing, and it still has two weeks to go. If you’re interested in the project you can check out the Kickstarter page right now to learn more about the visual novel’s physical release for PC. In addition to that, NekoNyan also announced that they will be translating Aokana EXTRA1 to English.
The announcement originally came during this past year’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles, California. NekoNyan made the post over on their official website, where they revealed that an English translation of the post-story episode was coming. They also announced that physical posters and tapestries would also be available.
As noted by Noisy Pixel, the Aokana EXTRA1 story centers around Mashiro, and follows the events that proceed after the main story of the original game. There’s also the additional option to romance Mashiro, who happened to be one of the more popular characters from the original. If you’re into the flat-chested lolis then Mashiro fits that fetish to a ‘T’.
According to the VNDB, this would be the first time that Aokana EXTRA1 would be made available in the West for English speaking gamers in an official capacity. As noted on the Kickstarter page, NekoNyan is making it where the R18+ content will also be made available for backers. So you don’t have to worry about this turning into the sort of situation that befell Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart, where it eventually received an official English translation but then the R18+ version was nowhere to be seen due to licensing issues.
Right now there’s no further information on Aokana EXTRA1’s release, but I imagine more details will emerge as the original Kickstarter for Aokana: Four Rhythms Across The Blue wraps up.
You’ll have to keep an eye on NekoNyan’s website for more information about the English translation of the visual novel and when they have plans on releasing it in the West. Also, I don’t think that Aokana EXTRA1 will be able to make it onto the Steam store even as an all ages version given Valve’s propensity to drop the banhammer on loli content. But it’s early goings right now and things might change moving closer towards its release.
