Hideo Kojima head of Kojima Productions has revealed the standard edition box art and SteelBook box art for Death Stranding. According to the PlayStation official blog, the artwork for every physical copy appeared at “Hideo Kojima: Master Storyteller” panel at Comic-Con 2019.
First and foremost, the PlayStation.blog wrote up a piece showing off the artwork of the forthcoming Kojima game, and although yours truly isn’t a fan of the covers for both the standard and SteelBook edition, you can be the judge of that by checking out the following image:
“Master storyteller and game creator Hideo Kojima surprised attendees of his San Diego Comic-Con panel by revealing the final cover art for Death Stranding. The art features Sam Bridges, who must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding, and save mankind by reconnecting a fractured society.”

Speaking of the SteelBook edition, the following image comes from the blog post, showing off the collectible steel book cover that houses “Death Stranding Special Edition.”
The special version runs for $69.99 in the U.S, while further up north it costs folks $89.99 CAD. The Death Stranding Collector’s Edition boasts a base price of $199.99, while the land of the leaf must dish out $249.99 CAD.
Moreover, the comment section on PlayStation.blog seems to focus on the missing “only on PlayStation logo” and the fact that the cover looks lackluster.
Many people wanted a much more potent cover art that looks less generic while sporting elements of Death Stranding’s theme (as seen in the previous trailers) on the cover. Instead, a zoomed-in still of Norman Reedus wearing the cadet suit with the blinker on the side is what fans will get.
