MangaGamer and 07th Expansion announced that chapter seven of Higurashi When They Cry Hou has launched on Steam, GOG.com, and on MangaGamer’s own digital storefront.
The latest chapter is called Minagoroshi, and it picks up where the last chapter left off, with the main protagonist Keiichi attempting to change the threads of fate. In the small village of Hinamaizawa, every year between 1979 and 1983 someone goes missing and someone ends up murdered.
There is a superstitious belief that it may tie int a conspiracy involving a murder at dam construction site, while others believe it may be a copycat murderer on the prowl. It’s up to Keiichi to figure out what’s going on in an attempt to stop the tragedies from taking place. You’ll need to gather your wits about you, learn from the past chapters and attempt to work with Keiichi’s friends to change the chain of events in the village of Hinamizawa.
While players attempt to discover the tragedy that takes place every year in the countryside village of Japan, they’ll have to deal with the hardships of what might be considered an impossible task. Even so, it’s up to Keiichi to figure out what’s going on and at least attempt to stop by any means necessary.
Higurashi When They Cry Hou: Minagoroshi is one of just a few games that has been allowed on GOG.com from the visual novel category. The company began hosting visual novels after Valve instituted the original Waifu Apocalypse. The original three chapters of Higurashi When They Cry was added to GOG.com, along with Sunrider Academy and Eden back in May of 2018. GOG also opened the door to Maidens of Michael, another game that was banned from Steam under false pretenses by Valve.
In this case I’m a little shocked that Higurashi When They Cry‘s latest chapter made it onto Steam without any problems. Then again, Valve has been easing up on the bans lately, so that’s probably why.
You can grab a digital copy of the latest chapter for $7.99. However, during the first week of being on sale you can get it for 10% off the normal price, so you can get the seventh chapter for just $7.19. Higurashi When They Cry Hou: Minagoroshi is currently available on the Steam store and GOG.com, but if you would prefer to support the developer and publisher directly, you can grab a digital copy of the game from the MangaGamer storefront.
