Puzzling Dream and Ultimate Game S.A’s Unlucky Seven is probably one of the most unique games set to come out this year. The premise is definitely out of the norm and the gameplay seems rather unique. The entire aesthetic is themed around a retro-3D visage that dates back to games on the PSX and N64 from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Unfortunately, the game has been pushed back from its intended release, as it’s now scheduled to arrive on the Steam store starting August 30th.
In case the headline doesn’t give it away, the game features some partying furries that end up stranded on a planet, but there’s a little bit of a problem… they’re turning into cannibals.
This dark adventure will see players attempting to sate the desires of their friends, and deal with the love, hate, and horrors that come with this unlucky septuple of furries trying to survive impossible odds… and cravings.
A new teaser trailer was released to give gamers just a small taste of what’s in store for the Unlucky Seven.
The trailer doesn’t really explain anything and we have no idea what’s going on, but the trailer just reinforces the creepy vibes emanating from this off-kilter title.
According to the press release, Puzzling Dream’s upcoming project is based on classics like Sanitarium, Zork, Harvester and Hotel Dusk: Room 215 from Cing and Nintendo.
The perspective of the game is shot like a classic fixed-cam survival-horror title, not unlike Dino Crisis or Resident Evil.
We don’t get many games like this, and despite the odd furry-themed and low-fi pixelated 3D aesthetic, there is something oddly alluring about the concept of this game. Whether or not it’ll end up being a degenerate amalgamation of Tumblr ramblings and drawings made real or if it will end up being a sleeper-hit remain to be seen, but you can look for Unlucky Seven to drop on August 30th over on the Steam store.
