NASCAR Heat 4 Trailer Previews Truck Series At Watkins Glen International

704Games and Monster Games released a new trailer for NASCAR Heat 4, which is due out for the Xbox One, PC and PS4 at the twilight of summer. The new trailer highlights the NASCAR truck series at the Watkins Glen International Speedway.

The trailer clocks in at just under two minutes, featuring 30fps gameplay for the console title on a full grid of 32 racers.

We get to see the chase cam view, the cockpit, as well as front hood gameplay where you can see the race from multiple angles.

You can check out the video below.

The gameplay is quite milquetoast based on what’s presented in the video. We just see the truck make some dynamic passes in some fairly impressive situations where all that clutter could have very easily resulted in a massive pile-up.

Instead, we see that players can weave in and out, between each of their competitors using a bit of skill, patience, and a heck of a lot of hand-eye coordination when it comes to timing.

As noted in the press release, the game will feature pre-built, custom seasons in the Championship mode that will see players racing through the Gander Truck, Xfinity, and Monster Energy Series championships, with each series offering a different set of tracks and challenges to complete.

If you’re interested in checking the game out, it’s due for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One this summer. Hopefully the PC version isn’t locked at 30fps like so many other games, because that would be thoroughly disappointing. The 60fps frame-rate difference is a complete game changer when it comes to racing games, and I absolutely cannot play them at anything less than 60fps. For games like RIDE  or MXGP Pro, the difficulty factor changes by a significant magnitude due to the handling, physics, and latency all being affected drastically. So yeah… 60fps or bust.
