If “Game Journos” aren’t ripping Activision and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare a new one for not being diverse enough, then you can expect the game to be under fire for something like White Phosphorus. This time around, while the game isn’t under a quick scope by the media, the devs revealed at this State of Play how the SAS is partnering with the CIA to head over to the Middle East to help the Urzikstani Liberation Force.

The annual series of Call of Duty games are still on track with this pseudo-reboot billed as Modern Warfare. So, in other words, more first-person action.

As for this Modern Warfare story, a desperate mission arises that pulls in the iconic Captain Price to brandish his mustache and help out a liberation force in the Middle-East. The SAS strikes a deal with the CIA to help the Urzikstani Liberation Force to retrieve stolen chemical weapons.

According to the devs, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare takes players from London to the Middle East and other global locations, as this joint task force battles through betrayals and “no-win situations” to stop a full-scale global war.

In case you missed it, this game has gone out of its way to include a diverse cast of characters in its single-player mode. This is something that we covered a while ago, as seen in the new trailer:

Last month (August), campaign gameplay director Jacob Minkoff and studio narrative director Taylor Kurosaki explained that the campaign won’t tell gamers what is “correct and what is wrong.” However, we’ll see how that all pans out next month.

With that said, I can already tell that this game will still trigger those that attend ResetEra and the like, which means get ready for a flood of articles condemning the devs for content designed to cater to the easily triggered.

Anyway, the pseudo-reboot of the decade-old game billed as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is due out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 25th, 2019.
