Tales of Arise is an upcoming JRPG by Bandai Namco. Set to release across PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in 2020, ahead of that comes more info on the game via a new Tokyo Game Show 2019 trailer. The new video shows off fluid combat and teases a new character.
If you don’t know, Shionne is the heroine who is from the planet Rena. She is cursed by “Thorns” that cause intense pain to anyone she touches. Despite this curse, though, Shionne teams up with Alphen against her people of Rena for an unknown reason.
As for Alphen, he is a man that wears an iron mask and has lost his memory. Alphen also can’t feel pain, but he still fights for his people (who are oppressed by Rena) and takes up the sword of flames to be free.
Moreover, the new trailer shows the latest version of Tales of Arise combat, which I do have to say looks nice. I’m not a fan of the slight freeze frames displayed during the combat section, but overall it doesn’t look like a junction of weightless mess.
And we also get to see a glimpse of a new character near the end of the video. I’m not sure what role this person plays in the initial story and the conflict between Dahna and Rena, but we’ll find out soon.
Anyway, you can check out the latest Tales of Arise TGS 2019 trailer right here thanks to Bandai Namco:
If you can’t tell, I’m really looking forward to this game. Hopefully, no ethics department or raging social justice warriors interfere with this game that looks to be something special at launch.
In the meantime, Tales of Arise is due out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2020. You can learn more about this game by visiting toarise.tales-ch.jp.
