Indie developer SFB Games announced that their weirdly quirky mystery-puzzle game, Tangle Tower, is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch and on Steam for PC starting October 10th, 2019 next month.
Niche Gamer picked up the news following the release of a brand new trailer and some additional details on how the game is played and what the gameplay mechanics are like.
You can check out the trailer below.
The game is a follow-up to SFB Games’ Detective Grimoire, featuring Tumblr-style art and fully-voiced characters. I could very well see this being a show on the Cartoon Network… for better or for worse.
I’m no fan of the art-style, but the animations are at least on-point, and the voice-acting seems to match the personality of the characters to a ‘T’.
Beyond the story elements where you attempt to pick the brains of potential suspects to discover who murdered Freya Fellow, you’ll wander around distinct locations looking for clues, solving puzzles, and engaging in logic-twisting cognitive exercises.
Some of the puzzles range from playing a game of memory, to arrange jigsaw pieces, to attempting to mix and match items based on information given to you by suspects. Other times you’ll have to survey the area and attempt to deduce what happened based on the available info in the area at the time.
I imagine if you enjoyed the point-and-click games from yesteryears and wanted something akin to that in today’s era of gaming, you might want to check out Tangle Tower when it releases in just a couple of weeks.
You can learn more about the game by visiting the Steam store page or by looking for it to appear on the Nintendo eShop starting October 10th. The game is apparently already available on the Apple Arcade.
