Ghost In The Shell SAC 2045 Teaser Trailer Downvoted For Being 3DCG

A teaser trailer for Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2045 was rolled out for the Netflix animation, which is set to debut in 2020.

The trailer doesn’t reveal anything at all other than the general art-style you can expect from the series, which is being produced by Production I.G., and Sola Digital Arts. Both have a long history of working on animated projects, with Production I.G., being one of the original studios who also worked on the Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex OVAs back in the mid-aughts and Ghost In The Shell: Arise back in 2015.

Production I.G., is known for their work on traditional animated films while Sola Digital Arts have made a name for themselves working on 3DCG films such as Starship Troopers, Appleseed Alpha and the Ultraman series on Netflix.

You can check out the teaser trailer below.

As pointed out by Sankaku Complex, there are lots of downvotes for the teaser trailer, with plenty of people pointing out that they don’t like that it’s in 3D and hate that it doesn’t mirror Shirow’s original art-style.

Now we don’t actually know what the animations will be like. They could be better or they could be worse than what we see in the teaser.

The plastic 3D look certainly didn’t go over well with fans, though.

I’m a little shocked that the rights holders didn’t attempt to contact Arc System Works and have them work with a studio like Production I.G., to make Ghost In The Shell. They’ve managed to capture the look and feel of an anime while also using 3D to cut down on costs.

In any case, you can look forward to Ghost In The Shell: SAC 2045 to arrive on Netflix in 2020.
